On the 10th of September 2009 the wind farm Robin Riggs fed electricity into the English grid for the first time. The E.on AG expects to finish the construction of this wind farm by the end of the year. After completion Robin Riggs will be one of the biggest wind farms with 60 wind turbines in front off the British coast.

The joint venture of Prokon Nord GmbH, FC Holding GmbH and Norderland GmbH has received the approval for the wind farm MEG Offshore I. Start of construction is planned for 2012. MEG Offshore I will contain 80 wind turbines, each with a power of 5MW.

According to the report „International Offshore Wind Markets to 2020“ by the energy consulting company ODS-Petrodata the world wide installed capacity of offshore wind farms will be 55GW in 2020.

The wind farm developer PNE WIND AG and the Danish wind energy plant manufacturer Vestas Offshore A/S agreed on the support for the implementation of the Gode Wind II offshore wind-farm. This arrangement entails the joint technical development for the installation of 80 Vestas wind energy plants in the "Gode Wind II" offshore project, which has already been approved.
